If you are a junk food lover you must need to know a few things and
these will enhance your knowledge about junk food.
In the 21st century, junk food has
become popular in the world. For better or for worse (usually worse), junk food
is now available worldwide. You can see it almost everywhere you go, whether
it`s a grocery store, a convenience store, a fast food store, or a TV, and it
usually looks very attractive.
“Junk
food" generally refers to foods that contribute lots of calories
but little nutritional value and we usually ignore these facts about our food
and end up eating unhealthy food.
For
example
when people drink a
lot of soda, they usually don't drink a lot of low-fat dairy products or other
healthy drinks like green tea or orange juice. As these
food are low in satiation value that is, people don't tend to feel as full
when they eat them -- which can lead to overeating. Most "junk food"
falls into the categories of either "snack food" or "fast food”.
And then there are things
like breakfast cereals. Calories from Popular snack foods are usually
commercially prepared and packaged, like chips, cheese puffs, candy bars, snack
cakes, and cookies. The contribution of snack food to the calories we eat
should not be underestimated as we do not look out for the ingredients and the
nutritional value of these packaged and processed food more often.
some say pizza is junk food
Adding vegetables for toppings in addition to whole wheat or whole-grain
crusts would make pizza completely out of the junk food category which means
that we do not even know what exactly is the definition of junk food. Another problem is that junk food
tends to replace other more nutritious foods.
Snacks in Junk Food
The contribution of snacks to the calories we eat should not be
underestimated. In a Boston Children`s Hospital study, teenagers aged 13 to 17
were given three fast-food meals (all including chicken nuggets, french fries,
and cola). At one meal, teenagers were served a lot of food at once. In another
example, a lot of food was served at once, but little by little. And in the
third test meal, a lot of food was served, but little by little every 15
minutes. Researchers don't seem to care how much food is served, and teens find
that a single meal consumes about half of their daily calorie needs.
Researchers have suggested that certain factors specific to fast food may
promote binge eating which is not a good thing.
Recommendations
As all of us know that various meals classified ads aimed toward kids
are made up of ingredients excessive in fat, sugar, and/or salt, and occasionally
low in dietary value. And a few studies
show that looking at commercials for processed ingredients encourages kids to
consume extra food which is not healthy. The kids ate extra food after the
meals commercials than after the classified ads for toys. It is recommended to
choose fast-meals eating places that provide more healthy choices.
And regardless of wherein you are, choose meals and drinks which might
be made up more often than not of substances that provide vitamins alongside
calories. Choose a 100% whole-wheat
cracker made with canola oil, for example, or snack on a cheese and fruit plate
as opposed to a bowl of cheese puffs. Certain TV ads appear to draw extra junk
meals classified ads than others, so parents may need to deter children from
looking at those indicates and ads in order to avoid unhealthy foods.
